Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.Sc. Nursing)
The B.Sc. (Bachelor of Science) in Nursing is a four-year professional degree course recognized by the Indian Nursing Council (INC) and the West Bengal Nursing Council (WBNC), affiliated with the West Bengal University of Health Sciences (WBUHS).
On successful completion, the student shall be awarded a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree by WBUHS and a Registration certificate by WBNC respectively, which entitles them to work as a Registered Nurse and Midwife (RNRM). Facilities are provided to students for clinical experiences under the guidance of faculty in various clinical and community settings. The university exams are held semester-wise.
Aims of the Program
The aim of the undergraduate Nursing program is to:
- Prepare graduates to assume responsibilities as professional, qualified nurses and midwives who provide promotive, preventive, curative, and rehabilitative health services.
- Prepare students to become nurses who can make independent decisions in nursing situations, function efficiently in hospital settings, provide community health nursing services, and conduct research studies in areas of nursing practice.

Assessment & Examination Pattern
Theory Examination
- All subjects across different semesters carry 25% marks for internal assessment and 75% marks for the annual university examination.
- Students must secure a minimum of 50% in internal assessment and maintain at least 80% theory attendance to be eligible for university examinations.
Practical Assessment
- Practical components carry 50% for internal assessment and 50% for the final university practical examination.
- Students maintaining 100% clinical attendance and a minimum 50% total internal assessment score are eligible for the practical examination.
